My blog from 6/16 talks about why I chose the name Angels Landing for this charity, and by extension speaks to much of what I feel is the purpose of this charity. Though I plan on starting multiple programs, one that is near and dear to my heart is the supporting survivors of domestic violence as they go through the downhill climb. There are many crises management services out there that last a few weeks, maybe a few months, but there are very few services that are committed to supporting survivors long-term reintegration needs. So I decided I’ll build it!
We are partnering with other charities that provide financial education and scholarships to kids to play sports, we’re employing grief counselors that can help with long term mindset, are building a virtual training platform that will allow us to do some practical job and like skill training. All of this is intended to prepare our survivors for a work study program. Our work study program will place survivors in internships with businesses we have partnered through our relationship with the iBride Network and we will pay their salary for a period of time while our survivors get real world on the job training and a longer runway to navigate that downhill climb.
